Flora and the Rainbow Ribbon
Flora loved her cozy home. Every morning, sunlight streamed through her window, lighting up her room. Her very favorite thing was a long, sparkly rainbow ribbon. It wasn't just any ribbon; it was a special gift from her grandma, perfect for twirling and making colorful swirls in the air. Flora always kept it safe in her special treasure box, right by her bed. She was a very kind girl, always gentle with her toys and thoughtful with her friends.
One sunny afternoon, Flora was playing in her room, twirling her rainbow ribbon. Swish! Swish! Up and down, around and around it went. Oops! With an accidental flick, the ribbon flew high into the air. Higher and higher it went, landing right on top of the tall, tall bookshelf! Flora gasped. "Oh no, my ribbon!" she whispered. She stretched her little arms, but the shelf was too high. She jumped, but it was still too high. The sparkly rainbow ribbon just sat there, out of reach.
Flora looked at the shelf and then at her ribbon. She didn't want to just knock it down and make it fall hard. "How can I get you, my pretty ribbon, without hurting you?" she wondered kindly. She thought and thought. Her eyes sparkling when she spotted her long, soft blue scarf. "Aha!" she exclaimed. Then, she looked around and saw her dad's strong, light walking stick in the corner. Carefully, Flora tied one end of her soft blue scarf around the tip of the stick, making a gentle loop. She didn't want to hurt the ribbon, so she made sure the scarf was very, very soft.
Flora slowly lifted the stick, reaching, reaching, reaching for the tall shelf. It was tricky, but she was gentle. She carefully guided the soft scarf loop towards her rainbow ribbon. Almost there! With a soft nudge, the loop hooked around the ribbon. Very, very slowly, Flora lowered the stick. Down, down, down came the ribbon, softly gliding along the scarf. It didn't tumble or fall with a thud; it floated gently like a cloud.
Finally, the sparkly rainbow ribbon was safe in Flora's hands! She hugged it tight. "Thank you, clever stick and soft scarf," she giggled. Flora had used her kind heart and clever mind to solve the problem. She learned that thinking gently and creatively could help with even the trickiest things. With her rainbow ribbon back, Flora spent the rest of the afternoon making beautiful, colorful swirls, feeling happy and proud.
