The Magic Ribbon of Bravery
The sun was warm on my shoulders as I sat by the big oak tree on the school playground. I was using a small twig to draw a giant, swirling dragon in the sandbox. My friend Zoe was nearby, trying to hop like a wobbly frog on one leg while making silly ribbit sounds.
Suddenly, the loud recess bell rang through the air. Everyone started running toward the classroom door to be first in line. I saw our friend Leo sprinting past the swings, but his shoelace was dragging. Before I could yell out a warning, he tripped and tumbled right onto the gravel path!
Leo started to cry, looking down at his scraped, dusty knee. I knew I had to do something creative to help him feel better. I ran over quickly and knelt down, pulling a bright, colorful ribbon from my art kit. 'Leo, look!' I said in a , 'this isn't just a ribbon, it's a magic shield for the bravest knights in school.'
Zoe hopped over and started doing a goofy wiggle-dance to help Leo forget the pain. 'And I am the court jester!' she shouted with a big grin. Leo wiped his teary eyes and watched as I carefully tied the ribbon around his wrist. He actually started to smile, feeling much braver already.
Our teacher walked over and thanked us for being such kind and helpful friends. We walked into the classroom together, taking slow and steady steps. Helping Leo made me feel even better than winning a race to the door ever could. Being a good friend is the best prize of all.
